Introduction:

This website presents a yearlong plan for programming and training that support early childhood literacy skills and development. This Early Childhood Literacy plan hopes to provide holistic, informed, and inclusive training and programming options to the community. The target audience and community these programs serve is wide and inclusive. This specific ECL plan is geared towards implementation by the children's department of a public library. The "Assessment" tab contains extensive detail on how these programs are also designed and evaluated to provide support to patrons who face issues of inequity and historical exclusion. The early literacy program presented here is hypothetical, though there are several organization and programs mentioned by name in the programming examples. The "Libraries are for Everyone" campaign, StoryWalk, and Let's Move in Libraries are real organizations and programs, with links provided to their information where appropriate. Unless noted underneath, all images are provided through Wix, this website platform. This project is adapted from the author's "A Children's Librarian's 12-Month Programming Plan" that they created for their "Information 260A: Programming and Services for Children" course. This ECL programming website has also been updated to provide high contrast visibility in order to present it's content in a manner more accessible to color blind viewers.
