Introduction:

Welcome!!

I'm so glad you've made your way to my children's library programming website.

What is this website?

Great question! Allow me to explain:

I am currently working on my graduate degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS). I've created this website as a final project for my "Programming and Services for Children" course. Within this website you will find a multitude of examples of the types of programming I would implement in my Children's Department, as well as the inclusive, supportive, safe, and informed stance I approach and design all of my programming from. The target audience/community that my programs serve is wide and inclusive. I encourage you to take a look at the "Assessment" tab for more details on how I work to ensure that the programs I design support patrons who face issues of inequity and marginalization.

A few notes:

There are several organization and programs mentioned by name in my programming examples, and I would like to take a moment to clarify: Drag Queen Story Hour, the "Libraries are for Everyone" campaign, StoryWalk, and Let's Move in Libraries are real organizations and programs, and I link to them where appropriate. I made up the specific organization of "Hounds of Hope", though therapy-dog storytime organizations do exists and I have used them with great success in storytimes before.

About the website design:

Above all, I want this website's aesthetic to be clean and direct, with a formatting and functionality that is easy-to-use. I'm a painter, and bold, appealing, color is an important element in most of my work. Something that was really enjoyable for me to do when building this website, was to hand pick the colors throughout every page to reflect an almost iridescent, enjoyable, aesthetic. I started with a pre-made green template and then went in and customized it throughout. Every button, every font choice, every header and background choice was chosen to present an easily readable, almost nature-like, iridescence to you. I hope you enjoy.
